Duncan's Run Ride Report--Music and Food

What a fun bunch of people.  Gathered for an event called the "Duncan Run Patch Ride", a new event for most of us.  While this happy group gathered, there was another group, a different group, a group known far and wide as.......
Picture
....yeah, those guys, the "Riveters".  Shown, L to R, are Kyle, Luke, Ben, Danny, Ken and Travis.  Others were circulating in the parking area, including Jon Morgan, Marty, Pete C, etc...  The guys invited me to drop in when they departed.

And so, we exit.  Getting out on the road, I looked back and ominously.....
Picture
....the storm was gathering, preparing to blow by like the previous evening hurricane.  As they began to pass.....I jumped on board as did others, including Meredith, Larry, Lisa, Angie, Peggy, Gus, etc...

I drafted for 24 miles, during which I had an interesting conversation with a member of the group who has investment expertise.  His firm my frown on giving free advice so let's just call him "Jon" so as to protect his identity.  I've spent my adult life following a "buy high, sell low" approach and while I did not understand everything that "Jon" told me, it appeared he too endorses said investment approach.  He even suggested "Amazon" was a raging buy at $1000 a share. Wow!  Most people have to pay for this advice but not me!  Then I talked to Ken Buddell who is participating in a 10 race series comprised of road races, crits and some 3rd category, in Chicago this week.  Wow.  Let's see, what else did I learn from this bunch...oh Lori N is in Taiwan on an all expenses paid trip to blog for a cycling organization....Luke is nearing the end of his quest for a PHD......Marty is headed to Europe for fun with his daughter and bike... After the 24 miles of fun, I dropped back so I could join my brothers and sistas who failed to make the leap with the Riveters.  I had a good time riding with them too and after 78 miles of mostly flat riding (how does one get into and out of Utica without Reynolds Road?), we arrived back at the parking lot, me with a 20.2 average to hear....

....good music and eat.....
Picture
.....good food.  Good time, again, on the bike.

I think, but am not certain, this is the long route to give you an idea of the distance and elevation change: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14920100
If
I learn of other Saturday options I will update here.
