Viva Ridge Runner & Las Vegas

I approached the Ridge Runner Ramble from Granville and hooked up with the group at the top of Stone Quarry.  Here. Mark C, Steve O and Jeremy, who forgot to sprint to get into the frame, were rapidly cutting through the field.

Did not appear to be a huge turnout but here is SupeDave and in front of him Recumbent Dude.  Also on the route were Kenda's Janet, Paul and Rick, Todd Mullens, Mitch T, Cindy, etc..  Probably only 5-8 people did the long route on this very humid morning.  I took so many shortcuts I ended up with a paltry 40 miles but partly I had an obligation to meet family in Zanesville that afternoon and packing for my trip to Vegas/California and guess what.....I'm in Vegas right now.  Vegas is not really my cup of tea although it is fun to get a group together and play blackjack but otherwise I always find Vegas depressing.  I can only take seeing so many old, overweight blue hairs perched on stools pulling slot machine handles before it begins to get to me.

Oh, it was 106 degrees when I arrived but did not feel as crummy as when I left Ohio this morning at 78 degrees and 450% humidity.

rode about 68 miles of the rrr today since I work tomorrow. Few good hills and lots of heat. Prob. shouldn't spent most of my money on those little amish pies ...

Levi sets new record at Leadville 100, wins the race.

Rode the Hocking hills today from Circleville. Did all the famous hills, should be good prep work for the upcoming rides this fall I hope.

Kevin,

Did a modification of the 100 miles today and felt much better than last year. I left my car in Granville and rode to NA leaving around 7:00, that helped with the heat.

I ended up doing Pedal with Pete with my teammates on Saturday...did the 100 and boy was it hot. Mike and Ric and I took turns pulling the last 20 miles or so. I also did the Sunday Canal ride today, 66 miles of exploring roads that are well, no longer there (Pump Station and Barneby). We got to go down Revenge though. See everyone Tuesday!

Did the RRR Century with Steve, Jeremy, and a few others along the way including Cindy who took some alternative routes. Hard ride with the heat turned up so high. We squeezed out an average of 18 mph. This was Jeremy's first century. He rode strong and even a broken spoke didn't slow him down.

The heat can make RRR a difficult ride. But, it is a beautiful and fabulous route!
