Not a Tuesday Ride Report

I was walking Stella through the woods and noticed a lot of leaves have begun to fall.  Soon, I won't be able to identify the dead ash trees from those still living.  Since the temps were cool and I need to wear long pants for one of my favorite activities, I decided to skip a Tuesday ride and....

.....break out the chain saw and get after it.  While I am not such a skilled cyclist, I have acquired the skill to bring down trees to avoid damage to live trees. Then the real fun begins, stacking the wood and....

...splitting it manually.  I know, I should rent a log splitter but that would take the fun out of it.  A little each day and it adds up.  Probably have 3 cords split so far.  Well, I will be at the Thursday New Albany ride to do my duty and some of us are planning a ride leader get together at the Rusty Bucket post ride either this Thursday or one of the remaining Thursdays.  I'm even thinking of buying the first round.

You missed an interesting Tuesday night ride. Mark C, Ryan (yes he was there!) decided to chase the A riders down instead of waiting. B groups blew apart. I got lost on Pickerington, missed the Coonpath turn and had to backtrack. Donna led the ride but left in her car, claiming hills were ridden yesterday.

Doesn't surprise me at all Corvair. You know Mark abandoned Cindy on Mt. Mama for a much younger woman. He likes to start with slower groups and then try to grind them down. Wonder why he doesn't just start with the A group?

Mark, to defend Mark C. a bit, the A's and SB's rolled at the same time, I don't think Donna believed there were any A's so when she said A's out, and no one flinched she sent the SB's right then. Everyone was together until part way up Waterloo, then a gap started to slowly open, but Mark stuck with the A's at that point, so he really did roll out with them...

The bigger shock was at the end, to see him roll in with the A's and a 19.6 average. (Brother Pete was with the A's and said Mark pulled a bunch on the later part of the route).

Like I said before, a handful of us got into a pissing match and pushed the pace without regrouping, and to be fair to Ryan he started saying we needed to regroup, and since I didn't see him after Pickerington I'm guessing he dropped back, on purpose, to the group. All in all a bad move on my part with a few others. I will have to go out with the A's and get murdered in the first 3 miles for the next few weeks as punishment.

Amanda...

I feel bad about you and others being dropped so early... we (me, Dan R, Dave who got dropped by A's, and two others) looked around and there were only 5 of us and no one close behind, so we figured the majority of the B's were grouped behind. We should have waited, sorry.

No worries, Mark C apologized to me later. however, all joking aside...3 others were also dropped, one of them without a map. let me just say this....with so many people getting hit by cars as of late, it is safer to ride in groups. While riding on Pickerington, alone, I was passed by 4 cars at a pretty fast pace and was pretty afraid one of them might hit me. You know how it is out there, the drivers hate us riding slow on hills. They also do not see us. So on a hilly group ride, in the future, might be a good idea to wait at the turns at least (or, to go out with the A riders and have someone else lead the Bs/super Bs). Please consider this if you are subbing as a ride leader for Ric while he is out.

Look guys. While I appreciate your effort to get the facts straight, they don't agree with my agenda to destr.......err I mean to create a reputation. I'm in the process of creating Mark C in the image of the pitiless, ruthless, lone wolf type cyclist so facts are not helpful to my cause. I need a character like this for future story concepts. I'll get around to you others soon enough, heh, heh, heh.

What's the saying, the wood warms you twice. First time when you split it.
