After asking, Katherine provided the below, which corrects some of what I previously reported and fills in other holes. I race as a Cat. 3. I think that in the Grandview race, I was in the minority since most were Cat 1/2 racers. Maybe the only hometown girl too! Gosh, I melted in that heat and could barely race to my full potential. My legs weren't even tired at the end, but my head felt like it was on fire. I don't know how some people can tolerate that heat. I placed 15th overall for sticking it out. Oh, and that was my first-ever flat in a race! Last year I got more into cycling b/c in the previous 3+years, I did Ironmans and had a knee surgery (that ended my long distance running career). Now you know why I'm back on the bike more... can't do any more Ironmans. I still do the TRI thing, but my surgeon has only approved me to race sprint distances. My current cycling team is the Ohio Orthopaedic/Moro Cycling team and my triathlon team is HFP Racing. I've raced as a cyclist for 12 years now, and on/off with triathlons for 16 years. I'm 32 in case you're trying to do the math. My cycling teams have included Miami U., Wendy's, Savage Hill, Ohio U. and now, Ohio Orthopaedic/Moro. My triathlon teams have included COTT, Fat Rabbit Racing and now, HFP. I'm sure that you didn't need to know all of this info, but I thought that it would help to put the pieces together.

For those who don't know her, Katherine is also one of the absolute nicest people you will ever meet in the peloton. She always has a great attitude no matter what and never has a discouraging word to say about anybody (not even Mark!)
