While participating in the Thursday New Albany ride, Brian White was struck from behind by a pickup truck.  The story can be read here, along with an opportunity to donate to assist in Brian's recovery: http://www.gofundme.com/sprg5w9h

Here are the routes for tonight's Canal Winchester ride Steve Hewitt will be there to lead the C group and I, yes little ole me, will be there to sign you in, repair a bike or two, offer encouragement and inspire as only I can:

Anywhere from 50 to 80 riders do the New Albany ride. A, B+, B and C groups, and the story says a farmer found him in the ditch?

He must have been off the back of the B group all alone with no one behind him, the C group did a different route.

Considering the efforts of Rick Miller to keep the B group together with multiple regroup points, it is a surprise that Brian was riding alone. Sportsman Club is a hilly/rolling road and easy to lose sight of cyclists despite the regroup efforts.

We did do a regroup at the top of Chatham Ridge at the stop sign. But I don't know if we got everyone or if Brian made it to that regroup. Some of the folks were chomping at the bit and so we didn't wait too long to make sure everyone had gotten caught up. We did several regroups Tuesday night at Canal and did get Brian back with the group that evening for the final 10 miles.

A couple of people who visited Brian were at tonight's ride and said Brian had not caught the regroup at the top of Chattam and then missed a left turn off Sportsman Club. Thus he was not riding on the route when he was hit. It bugs me that a pretty strong cyclist like Brian can't catch the B regroup. If a guy of his fitness can't hang with the B group there is something odd going on. Maybe he has not been riding but still, he is not hardly a C cyclist.

I was riding with Clayton's group and it split up into 3 fast B groups on Sportsman club going into the wind. the first group rode away and I had to really struggle to catch Andrew's group. No one was doing any waiting at the 4 way stops. I also tried to help someone catch us but he dropped off as well on the hills. The B group is very fast and large at New Albany when Ric decides to ride with the A group. That night I heard he turned around to go to the C group, I am not sure why.

Actually I talked to Brian yesterday, he was with us at the Chatham /Chestnut Hills regroup. There were about 6 of us including him that did not make it out with the main group, due to traffic. And yes no one stopped to regroup at the stop signs.
Not at 661, not at Lafayette, not at Loudon and so on....
There was KMA electric car that was in front of us as we approached the 661 intersection. After we crossed he stayed behind us as almost as a SAG vehicle. I tried to pull us back, we had Brian with us at Lafayette, between Loudon and northridge Brian told the car(SAG vehicle was the term he used with me) to go around. This is why he was dropped out of our group, I was up front pulling the group and didn't know he was gone, we picked up Chris Grisvard and Kim Cory before we hit Northridge Rd. I didn't drop off till Miller and 310, and rode back with my wife.
