Well, I have been talking to numerous sources and it appears Grand Poobah has been engaged in a superhuman training regimen and also making frequent drives to the south for weekend training camps. Said to be riding the same roads ridden by none other than Lance Armstrong prior to his first comeback after recovery from cancer in Boone, NC. I am told Todd has a photo of Steve O on his bedroom ceiling and uses it to motivate him,,,,but not sure for what because of its location. Also told Todd has decals for the numbers 1 through 10 for his bike. There are 10 names he mentally keeps in his head that he intends to thrash out on the road and once the thrashing has been applied, he will apply the number to his bike frame. Not sure of the make-up of the list exactly but would be easy to speculate the names are Craig Butler and lesser lights, as well as anyone wearing a "Walker" jersey. As I learn more I will post it here.
Will have final plans for Saturday's hike on Thursday but how about that Sunday forecast of 36 degrees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who wants to ride and where? Someone throw something out there...maybe a New Albany to Granville or Canal to Rushville Coffee Shop or ..... Come on, throw something out there that will attract the legions of people craving to get out there for a ride. Maybe should start at 10:00amish?
This crummy weather has me thinking, alot, of the CA training camp in March. I became friends with the ride director of "Cycling Escapes" and talked him into letting me join their tour for 5 days...well, I had to pay a little and promise to sweep a couple of the days so he could ride at the front. They ride the same routes I do and I always wanted to try riding with a group out there. Plus, should add some interesting blog material. Looked into flying into LA, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and even Vegas. Finally decided just to fly into SB, which is only a half hour away from cycling nirvanna. Now if our temps would just return to the normal high of 38 degrees that would be unreal.
Mark C let me know he is planning an extreme hiking expedition for Saturday. If you've never participated in one of these get out there. It's a great work out and he'll take us to places no one has seen since the Azteks prowled the area many years ago. Time and start place to come.
