I belong to a Grand Canyon Facebook group and on there recently, a woman described how her boyfriend abandoned her while hiking the Hayduke Trail across UT & AZ, while also taking their tent, water, maps, etc... What a piece of work and a couple of days later, the guy became lost, somehow became drunk and what followed was a $10,000 invoice for a rescue while she continued on the trail. Exciting stuff to be sure and today she is closing on the 700 mile trek. Anyway, while following the events, someone recommended this blog in which another woman is doing the same hike and it is very interesting reading with great images. Kind of reminds me of Cheryl Strand's story "Wild" but this woman, Katherine Cook, is much more accomplished and experienced.
This link takes you to day 9 of the epic journey but you can backtrack to day 1 from there: https://hayduketrail.wordpress.com/2015/03/31/
